A member of our Flinders Flames family sadly passed away on August 30th 2016.
Tamara Rootsey joined the Flames when her sister Lea asked her to fill in one week in 2005. Tam was involved with the club for many years both as a player and committee member, she was also the club President in 2008, 2009 & 2011.
In 2010 Tam received the Adelaide Airport Flinders Flames Eternal Flame award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the club.
We’ll miss your cheeky smile, but we’ll forever remember the great laughs we have shared on and off the pitch. Your energy for our Flames family was infectious and your enthusiasm for the sport we all love was evident. Everyone who played beside you or knew you, respected and admired the woman we will all desperately miss.
Our flame burns a little less bright.
“Say not in grief that she is no more but say in thankfulness that she was.
A death is not the extinguishing of a light, but the putting out of the lamp because the dawn has come.” – Rabindranath Tagore
